Web Application User Interface Designer
Synopsis of Role:


The Web Application Designer/Developer will work with business stakeholders and development teams to conceptualize the experience of internal and external users. The position will identify commonalities across different areas and create a consistent experience. Qualified candidates must have extensive experience working with development teams, and will define the process to incorporate a user-centered design approach into the software development life cycle (SDLC). Candidates must be experienced working with business and development groups through all phases of the SDLC.

Critical Skills and Job Complexity:


Mastery of web standards and user-centered design principles
Understanding of User Interface design principles, such as navigation systems, controls, GUI standards
Strong understanding of Usability concepts and principles
Familiarity with development platforms
Expert DHTML, AJAX, JavaScript, XML/XSL, and CSS skills
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently as well as on a team.
Proven experience designing interactive applications that have been developed and achieved great success with users

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design or related field
1 or 2 years experience working for a software development company
Ability to create and modify screen layouts using Photoshop or equivalent graphics programs
A superior eye for visual design and ability to create aesthetically appealing modern user interfaces
Experience with Flash development preferred
Proficiency with imaging software
Proficiency with prototyping software
Design portfolio required
